Ingredients

Beef and potatoes
  • 2 lb beef sirloin or chuck
  • 1.5 lb baby potatoes
  • 6 clove garlic
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
  • fresh parsley For serving.
  • parmesan For serving.
  • salt To taste.
  • pepper To taste.

Equipment

  • 1 Dutch oven

Method

Season and layer
  1. Season the beef cubes with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika, coating evenly for full flavor throughout.
  2. Place the baby potatoes in the bottom of the Crockpot and nestle the seasoned beef on top so the beef steams while the potatoes soften.
  3. Scatter the minced garlic and cubed butter over everything so it melts into the cooking liquid.
  4. Pour the beef broth and Worcestershire around the sides, then sprinkle the Italian seasoning over the top for an all-over aromatic base.
Cook low-and-slow
  1. Cook on Low for 6-8 hours until the beef is tender and the potatoes are easily pierced with a fork.
Finish and serve
  1. Stir gently to coat everything in the garlic butter sauce so the potatoes pick up the glossy flavor.
  2. Serve hot with fresh parsley and parmesan sprinkled on top.

Notes

For best sauce thickness, avoid aggressive stirring during cooking; gentle mixing at the end keeps the potato texture intact. Refrigerate leftovers up to 3-4 days; reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave with a splash of broth. Freezing is yes—freeze up to 2 months, then thaw and reheat gently. For a lighter option, use a reduced-fat butter substitute or cut back the butter to 1/4 cup.
